Query Not Displaying Results


Ran this on Windows 7 and 8.1 and can't get results on the Query tab - 0 Results, 0 Instances returned (query I am running is SELECT * FROM Win32_ComputerSystem whilst connected to the ROOT\CIMV2\ms_409 Namespace).

Results pane shows a blank grey area (see attached image).

Tried running as Administrator and also tried multiple classes.

Using old version of WMI Explorer this works fine for all tests - any ideas?

I looked at a couple of machines, and neither of them had an instance in the ROOT\cimv2\ms_409:Win32_ComputerSystem Class. I also used the older version as well as wbemtest and the result was the same.

Are you sure the namespace you need to look at is root\cimv2\ms_409 and not root\cimv2 ?

The name of the Namespaces/Classes seems to vary according to OS version and possibly architecture?

From the image i attached you can see the Namespace and Class is valid as it is returned by the WMIE tool - I just can't view any of the properties which I can using the older version of WMIE as well as WMIC and other methods of querying WMI.

The problem isn't the name of the Namespace here (as none of them seem to work) but more that I can't view any results - multiple machines, multiple OS versions.

I've just noticed what I was doing wrong here. Works differently to previous version and I was looking at the wrong area - your comment made helped me figure this out vinpa!

Executing my query on "ROOT\CIMV2" provided the results that I needed despite it being the same syntax.

This can be closed (don't seem to be able to close this myself...)
